Our own kernel, not a layer on someone else’s CAD
Most AI tools for architecture are plugins for Rhino or Revit — and they inherit both their ceiling and their licence. BIM Harness stands on a parametric kernel we wrote from scratch. That is precisely why it can do what a wrapper cannot reach.
The kernel is a parametric model in the browser — not IFC in memory, and not fragments. Move a wall and only what hangs on it regenerates; that is why an edit is instant and a hospital of 1,896 elements rebuilds in 194 ms. Fragments only draw the same geometry on the GPU. IFC is the entrance and the exit.
A parametric object model
A wall knows it is a wall: it has a build-up, mitred corners, openings as a relation and a dependency graph. Change the type and the model regenerates — no rewriting lines in a file and hoping.
Grids, families, types and formulas
Structural grids, columns on intersections, datum elements, families with parameters and unit-checked formulas. Exactly the layer desktop BIM tools stand on — in the browser, without a five-figure licence.
Views, drawings and schedules
Plans and sections are generated from the geometry, annotations belong to the view, and schedules work both ways: overwrite a number in the table and the model changes.
IFC is the boundary, not the internals
The model does not live as STEP lines in memory. IFC is imported at the entrance and generated deterministically at the exit — which is why the export never collapses into triangle soup.

A wrapper over someone else’s API takes a month to build. This is a year of work on geometry, constraints and regeneration — and it is the reason a sentence turns into a building rather than a cloud of triangles.

Describe the building
In your own words: “Apartment building, four storeys, twelve flats, gable roof, basement storage.” The more detail, the more precise the design.
A team of AI takes it apart
The brief is not handled by one prompt. It is split between roles — architect, structure, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire — and each writes into its own module.
The model gets checked
Before you see the design it passes a completeness and clash check. Whatever crosses gets rerouted; whatever is missing is filled in deterministically.
Refine and export
Move walls, swap windows, add equipment — by dragging or with the next sentence. Then IFC into Revit, Archicad or your CDE.
Not a shell. A building with services in it.
Massing generators stop at the envelope and the layout. Harness carries on where a designer’s real work starts — services, penetrations and coordination.
Architecture and layout
Storeys, rooms by typology, the circulation core, open-plan relations, atria and set-back storeys with a terrace and parapet.
Structure and roofs
Columns on grid intersections, beams, gable, hipped, half-hipped, mansard and pavilion roofs — over L, U and T footprints, with per-wing ridges and valleys.
Ventilation, plumbing and heating
Mains in the ceiling void with height bands set by the rooms they cross, shafts at the end of corridors, risers, and penetrations cut into the structure.
Electrics down to the circuits
Service connection, meter, a switchroom as an actual room, boards per floor, feeders sized for the floor load, circuits, emergency lighting, UPS and a generator.
Data and low-voltage
A data board and a data riser routed at a distance from the power riser, with a fire alarm panel chosen by building type.
Clash detection that doesn’t lie
Clashes are measured analytically — distance between route axes minus radii, containment of a centreline in a solid. No boolean intersection reporting 4,000 litres for two pipes a metre apart.
After the check and the generator were rewritten, clash counts on the benchmark buildings dropped from 587 to 28 on the bungalow and from 2,898 to 113 on the four-star hotel. What remains are services crossing each other — exactly what gets settled in a coordination meeting. And a self-play harness keeps stress-testing the whole chain on dozens of generated briefs.

Harness is not a walled garden. It opens IFC from Revit and Civil 3D, writes properties to the Czech building data standard and hands you drawings as PDF.
IFC import with no silent loss
Every entity type in the schema has a declared fate and every element shows up in the import report. Across real-world exports from Revit 2021–2024 to Civil 3D — IFC2X3, IFC4 and IFC4X3, alignments included — measured import coverage is 1.0. What doesn’t import, you know about; nothing vanishes without a trace.
Building data standard
Properties are written as typed IFC values, the model validates against IDS, and the vocabulary of the Czech data standard (ČAS) loads straight from the public API. CCI classification lives in the project as maintained data, not as a note.
Drawings, PDF and exchanges
Plans and sections are generated from the model geometry and exported to PDF — dimensions, annotations and full diacritics included. The schedule exchanges with MS Project, the take-off with Excel.

So it doesn’t look like a box with windows
Generative design has a reputation for grey blocks. That is why Harness has its own ornamental architecture layer — and it builds real geometry, not a texture on the façade.
Ornament as geometry
Cornices, window surrounds, corner rustication, pilasters, columns, balustrades, arches, gables and dentils. Shaped profiles swept along the perimeter that break at openings and regenerate when you edit.
State the style in words
“A neoclassical villa.” “A Mediterranean guesthouse.” The AI picks the style and the level of ornament, the engine builds it deterministically — so the same brief returns the same house, not a fresh roll of the dice.
Realistic mode is the default
Procedural textures for roof tiles, render, sandstone, timber and stainless steel, a sky with a sun, soft shadows and filmic tone mapping. The model looks like a building right in the editor, not an hour later in a render tool.
